Slots based on video games are nothing new, but Bomberman Blast has a special charm for people who grew up with the little bomb-dropping hero. It takes the character from the screen to the reels and builds the bonus rounds around bombs, which is basically what the original game was all about.
Where to find it
It’s only available in states where online casinos are legal, so someone in Texas or California won’t find it. If you do live in one of those states, you can open an app like betPARX Casino and type ‘Bomberman’ in the search box to enjoy the game.
The 80s game behind it
Bomberman first came out in Japan in the early 1980s, on home computers at first and then on Nintendo consoles. You play as a little guy walking through a maze, placing bombs to break the walls and beat the enemies, and the trick is to stay out of the blast yourself. Plenty of people still remember it along with other popular 80s video games, and the slot depends a lot on that nostalgia. There’s no maze on the reels, of course. Instead, the bombs sit above the grid and decide which bonus you get.
How it plays
It’s a 5-reel slot with 40 paylines. The symbols are mostly treasure, such as chests and gold bars, along with the card ranks from 9 to Ace. A normal win needs three matching symbols on the payline, though the red treasure chest only needs two.
The real action is above the reels, where three bomb symbols are marked with the bonus they lead to. Land three matching bombs on the middle three reels in one spin, and that feature starts.
Bonus features
Each bomb leads somewhere different. The Bomber Game gives five free spins played on a big grid of 25 reels, with bomb reels that can bring cash prizes and multipliers. The Free Games are five rounds where the lower card symbols are upgraded to higher-paying ones before play begins. And in the Jackpot Feature, you get a screen with 18 eggs to pick from, and if three of them show the same progressive jackpot symbol, that jackpot is yours.
What to expect
Slots run on random results, so there’s no sure way to tell if a bonus will show up or not. The game’s info page usually shows the RTP and volatility, so it’s worth a look first. Payment options also vary by site. Licensed US casinos mostly work with cards and online banking, and the use of crypto is still uncommon, so it’s worth checking the cashier before you deposit. If you already like the Bomberman character, the theme and the bonus screens give you a decent reason to try it.
